I am a television whore
Bethany suggested that I blog about my favorites in television and movies. She does not realized what a can of worms she has opened.

Let me first make some excuses...I am well educated and love to read. My children love books, they have great imaginations, and I even do some educational things with them now and then.

But now, for my couch potato confession: The TV is ALWAYS ON IN THIS HOUSE. BOW TO THE TELEVISION.

TV and I go way back. It is my favorite comfort item, besides food (which is another issue in itself). Want to make me feel warm and cozy? Turn on a repeat of Little House on the Prairie.

So today, I give you my (really pitiful and GAH she watches waaaay too much TV) weekly lineup of shows.

DAILY SHOWS:
I do not, do NOT ever miss The Young and the Restless. I have watched it since I was four. Seriously. I scheduled my classes around the 11:30 to 12:30 time block when I was in college, and when I worked, I taped it religiously. I can throw an EXCELLENT tantrum if it does not tape for some reason.

I try to catch Oprah and Dr. Phil when I can, and I'm not up this late much anymore, but it's Letterman in this house...no Leno! My go-to channel when nothing else is on is the Food Network, which is probably not so good for my food issues. Ooh, and I love those "E! Hollywood Stories".

MONDAY:
CSI Miami - I'd elect David Caruso for president.

TUESDAY:
American Idol - I especially love the "audition" segment of the show, which just started this week. It is like a car accident...I just can't look away.

WEDNESDAY:
Lost - I am so confused with this show, but again, it has sucked me in and I have GOT to know what the hell is going on.

THURSDAY*:
The Office - This one makes me wet my pants a little. You have to watch this to be my friend.
Scrubs - Again with the pants wetting. You also have to watch this to be my friend.
ER - Still good, but I miss Dr. Doug.
CSI - I can NEVER peg the killer. I'm a little slow like that.
Survivor - I'm ready for a new season! But there will never be another season like the first with the Fat Naked Gay Guy (as we referred to Richard Hatch).
Ugly Betty - Very good new show! My husband hates it.
Grey's Anatomy - This is my first season to watch...thank you Silly Hily!
Ace of Cakes (on the Food Network)

*Yeah, Thursday is a big ass night for us around here. Do not call me on Thursday nights, for I will not answer. And don't you totally think I deserve a TiVo instead of having to set three VCR's? Help me convince my hubby!

FRIDAY and SATURDAY:
Trying to catch up on Thursday's shows!

SUNDAY:
Desperate Housewives - How can anyone NOT like this show?
The Apprentice
Cold Case
Without a Trace

So there. My shameful secret is out.

I love the tv too. I love Duff-especially when he blew that one up.

I bet I watch more actual shows than you in a week, just in super speed at my leisure with TiVo. (Actually, Dish Network's DVR, but that's just technical jargon, and who has time for that?)

TiVo/DVR will CHANGE YOUR LIFE, SISTAH! HALLELUJAH!

Ohhh yes The Office. And Earl, and Grey's, and Housewives, and....

Also, this is so very sad, but I had to stop watching the Food Network last year when I got serious about dieting. Seriously. It makes me way to hungry and inspires me to cook so much more than a lasagne Lean Cuisine. Sad.

I love you more, knowing you are a tv freak too. Out of the closets, all of us! TV addicts unite!

Shit. I need to invite the grammatically incorrect out of the closet with me as well. To and Too? Reading that from my own hand was like 10,000 nails on a chalkboard. (Or 10,000 spoons when all you need is a knife. Whatever. I'm a bit wordy tonight.

I like The Office too. I'm so glad we can be friends. :)

I prefer all the Law and Order shows over CSI, but I still have your same problem---I can never figure out who dunnit.

I'm sorry to say I don't watch Desperate Housewives or Grey's Anatomy (I know, I know, I'm way behind), but I am addicted to American Idol.

And last, but certainly not least, is my new favorite....Friday Night Lights. I love all the Texas high school football player/cheerleader drama. You gotta love it.

TV rules!

I had a huge comment, but now I am so mad at blogger for losing it I'll have to write again later!

I thought there was going to be a huge list! I'm glad I'm not the only one who's TV is always on. Even when I don't turn it on my 2 yr old does. She thinks there's something wrong if it's off. And I'm so with you on the Little House thing. And finally, as I babble on, what happened on Wednesday's American Idol...Rosie had a huge rant about it on the View but I missed who the clip. I assumed it was the 16 year old juggler but that was Tuesday.

Okay, I am not a TV/Movie person and as the wife of a theater manager I know that is weird. However I LOVE DVR. I comes in so handy when the little ones need something and I can pause, record, or rewind. We watch a lot of Backyardigans, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and The Wiggles. My channel is the Food Network channel. (GOOD EATS!!!, Rachel Ray, Paula Deen is so cute!) A DVR's Scrubs and we get to watching that. So funny. The in-laws watch The Class (also funny) and Ghost Whisperer. Our TV is always on too. Law and Order, CSI and Crossing Jordan used to be the favorites at our house, but the kids have changed that. May the blue light always glow.

I love The Office, but have you ever watched My Name is Earl which comes on afterward? That show is pretty funny. Also, I love Trading Spouses and Wife Swap along with Supernanny and Nanny 911. Have you ever watched those?

You need to watch Men in Trees and I believe it is called Brothers and Sisters it is on after Desperate Housewives. Men in Trees is on after Grey's anatomy. I don't know how we have been friend as I can't stand the office. It drives me crazy LOL! Oooh another good one is Boston Legal. Hilarious. James Spader is in it. Ok...looks like I watch some serious TV too. Erica

Ditto on Scrubs and The Office. Luke and I discovered The Office near the end of the second season and can't believe we survived this long without it. I truly don't understand those who don't think it's hysterical. I'm a huge fan of the Law and Order franchise and have only seen CSI once.

Also, my dedication to All My Children is waning as they continue to axe their veterans. The former Dr. David Hayward is now on your soap, and I'm thinking about switching. If I do, you'll have to catch me up to speed!

Dear Stacy's Hubby:

Get that girl a TIVO right this minute or their will be repercussions!

Thanks,

Rachel

P.S. Yay we can be friends, cuz NBC is where I am on Thursday nights. Although, if they show another freakin repeat of ER, I'm gonna send them a nasty email.

I'm going to have to start watching The Office so I know what I'm doing when Silly Girl wants to pound my fist and then explode her hand up in the air. They do that on The Office right? At least, that's what my brother said...the one who taught her.

I am not a blogger, just a simple reader of blogs. I have stumbled over here in the past few days to read yours...which BTW..I LOVE!
I felt I had to comment too on the Y&R watching. I have also been watching it since I was a small child, not so much by choice, but by the fact that it was what my parents recorded and watched EVERY night of my adolescence! To this day I watch religiously!
I had begun to think lately that my TV watching was becoming an awful addiction- that is...after watching an episode of WifeSwap, where one wife didn't believe in TV...having or watching! It honestly had me feeling like such a superficial, time-wasting, lazy ass! This post absolutely makes me feel 100% better........THANK YOU! TV makes me happy!!!!! And you have just made me proud to say so!

And am I the only one here who watches the OC??? ewww..or House, or Bones...Guess I am a FOX network watcher!

We have had TiVo for a few years now, and we cannot live without it! It's a must have for anyone who is even slightly passionate about television (I almost need an intervention I'm so addicted) I have Little House as a "Season Pass," so it records each time it's on. I'm so going to post my tv lineup soon! You will see that reality television is my cocaine. I'm so with you on Ugly Betty, American Idol and The Office!

ahahahah! I love TV! I LOVE THE ACE OF CAKES TOO! And CSI. But, on Tuesdays I watch House. (Right now it's not on, so I watch American Idol which I love!)Mostly HGTV and DIY as well. Yess, and BOW TO THE TV! haha!

oh and I forgot~ Gilmore Girls. Who can't love that show. The way you talk (or blog rather) you reming me of Suky or Soky? I don't know how to spell it, but you know, the woman that cooks. :) (hopefully you've seen the show) suki?

I am so impressed you can program 3 VCRs. I was never able to master the programming. I'm with you on CSI: Miami - you either love or hate Caruso - I'm a lover. Ugly Betty also rocks - Vanessa William's assistant cracks me up. Since your Monday line up looks short, try squeezing in Prison Break or 24 - they are both AWESOME. PB is a little dark but holy moly, Wentworth Miller is H.O.T.

After reading my comment, my husband informed me that My Name is Earl comes on before The Office so sorry, lol. Also, I forgot to mention that I LOVE House you should watch that sometime and I too am sick of E.R. repeats.

I am with you on CSI, Lost and Scrubs. Scrubs is about the funniest show I have seen on tv!!

I had to come over after reading Frema's comments to say that I can't believe you busted out "LouJack" from the old days of Guiding Light. I grew up on that soap since my mom watched it. LouJack was hot! You do love you some "stories" don't you.
Oh and FYI: Lifetime is playing Grey's Anatomy from the beginning at 10:00 p.m. on Sunday nights. It's heaven on earth since I didn't start watching until the second season. They have played three episodes so far. Three that I had never seen and they are all SO good! Like, maybe even better than they are now. (I can't believe I just said that.)
