First, thank you bloggers, for all of the nice compliments about my new layout! I know nothing about computers or how to make them do tricks, so Zoot helped me out. She's pretty awesome, huh?
I'm in the process of making a few more changes, but my makeover should be complete in the next week or two. I'm not so big on changes of any kind, so I'm feeling a little homesick for my familiar old look. However, I know I'll get used to the new stuff soon enough (especially if you all keep telling me how WONDERFUL it is!)
I've also been tagged again...this time by Mrs. S, and it's about "My City".
If you really want to know the exact location, you'll have to follow the trail of clues, but I will tell you that I live in a small town in southwest Missouri. I've lived with a 50 mile radius of this town all of my life. My husband and I have lived in this particular town for almost seven years, but we're still learning about it's particular quirks and curiosities.
Three places I love here:
1. Mexican Villa restaurant. You have not lived until you have eaten their taco sauce (aka "Sweet Sauce") on tortilla chips. OMG. Heaven. Order some, it's cheap! You will not be sorry, my friends.
2. The river and the park, just down the road from our house. Go fishing, feed the geese, play on a swing or the retired red caboose on a sunny day? Awesome.
3. Forever Memories, my favorite little scrapbook shop where everybody knows my name. My husband says that is NOT something to be proud of. Um, I'm cut off on the scrapbooking budget for the moment. But look...wouldn't you agree that it's money well spent?
*Yeah, Blogger isn't feeling up to it...imagine THAT. Now I will be forced to do an entire post on my scrapbook pages, just out of obsessive compulsive spite.*
Three places (things) I hate here:
1. The tourist traffic passing through to Branson...it's the worst at Lambert's. Tour buses, blue hair, and a one hour wait every night.
2. The rivalry with the school in our neighboring district. BEYOND catty.
3. The bizarre 90 degree corner on the main road in town. There is no stoplight and it is impossible to turn left onto that road at 5:00.
Three places I like to go with my friends:
1. Spring Creek Tea Room. It's run by church friends of ours, and it is a beautiful antique shop with a tea room / restaurant in the back. They make cakes that you wouldn't believe...I could go for some Chocolate Chip Banana Cake right now.
2. The Coffee Bean. Very neat place on the town square.
3. AEA Nails, where Donna and I go for pedicures. Excellent massage chairs, cheap prices, always a good time.
Three things an outsider wouldn't understand about my town:
1. The peacefulness of living in a town with cows everywhere. I can even watch them from my deck in the pasture across the road. MOOOOOOO.
2. The 25 mph speed limit on all roads, including the main road in and out of town. The hell?
3. The sheer number of churches for a town this size. And NO bars. Go figure.
4. Must add one more - Walmart is one of our main social hotspots. I can't go in there without visiting with at least three people I know.
The fanciest neighborhood:
Millwood. Our town has a lot of beautiful (and expensive) neighborhoods, but this one is set on a golf course and has MANSIONS that we could NEVER afford in our lifetime.
The ugliest neighborhood:
I can't remember if this is the right name, but I think it's called Country Crest. Whatever it's called, I remember coming across it when we were looking for a new house. It is made up of these tiny two story houses that are shoved rightnexttoeachother. They're odd looking little houses...they have cute little dormers and wrap around porches, but they are tall and skinny. They look like houses for the old woman that lived in a shoe.
Three people I'm tagging:
Hmm. I'm going to steal Silly Hily's idea on this one:
1. Do it if you
2. don't have anything else
3. to blog about.

Ok, I don't mean to be an ass but Millwood is technically not in our wonderful little town. It is in the big field if you catch my drift. You could put Freemont Hills, that is partially here and partially in the rivalry town. Ok, it is the realtor coming out in me although she is supposed to be retired!

Not finished w/ comments...I liked how you described our little place. And I like you have little quirks, yours are about punctuation and spelling and mine are about real estate. Call me crazy. alright B is STILL awake. I have been trying since 7:41 to get the stink to bed. URGH! I have choc chip cookies to eat. He NEEDS to sleep.

I love the new digs for your blog! Very cute! Maybe mine will be updated soon! It's sort of boring. So, Steve & I sort of giggle at out of control kids at church. When we have our own, I know this bad habit will stop, but for now, it's really entertaining.
Okay Miss Typo HATER - you have "lived with a 50 mile radius" Shouldn't it be "within a 50 mile radius"? See you in a couple of days. - Hubs
:) Nice blogging...nice new layout...nice YOU. I, too, love your town although I am from both the other side of the field and the town who warred with the Trojans, but I have to fondly remember the square for the "circling done at night". Jean 1
You are waaaaay more punctual with the whole "being tagged" thing than I am... it usually takes me a few days, at least, to get to it.
Also, you talked about cake, and now I want cake... I mean, more than usual *sigh* WHEN WILL THE HORMONES STOP!?!?! *giggles*
