Passing The Torch, Part 2 (or, My Daughter's Excuse For Her Bad Hair)
Now where was I? Ah, yes. My 2 year old daughter and her unruly hair. Remember?

Well, I told you she came by it honestly, so here's the proof:

Me at age 2, 1978
Not so much BAD hair, just a little messy. At least it was out of my eyes, which is more than I can say for my own child.

Me in 7th grade, 1988.

The hair is still long and straight, thankfully, but you can see the emergence of the Poof of Bangs, and note the Side Ponytail With Scrunchie. It's like I have half a set of antennae.

Me at age 13, circa 1989. Oh, dear God.

Oh yeah. I've got it ALL: the Spiral Perm, the Side Ponytail With Scrunchie, the (off center) Wall of Hairspray, er, Bangs.

Why didn't someone tell me? Oh wait. I think my mom DID try, but who the hell listens to their mom at 13?

(I mean, of course, MY daughter will. Shut up. Let me believe the lie.)

Again at age 13, which was obviously the peak of my Bad Hair Years.

And no, I did not crop the photo badly...my Wall of Bangs really DID go out of the frame. It appears that the Poof consisted mostly of hairspray, with very little actual hair involved. And someone REALLY could have told me about brow shaping. But anyway.

I am just thankful for the "natural" hair trend these days. Maybe my daughter will not have to suffer the shame that is Junior High Photos.

Now if I can just find someone to teach her how to style her wild hair, we're good. Hair styling is obviously not a talent I possess.

But I did get rid of the bangs (nevermore - I'm scarred for life against bangs on me of any sort), and I also have PUT DOWN THE HAIRSPRAY. Just trying to set a good example for my girl, you know.

I also learned that I look killer in a cute hat.

Stacey, I know you're not overly proud of your BIG BANGS, but I would have killed for the BIG BANG look when I was younger! My hair would not do that, and I always felt left out. Yeah, now I don't have any funny photos of big bang hair, but I continue to feel a little left out because of it! The moral of the story is...be proud of those big bangs! You worked hard for them!!!

Hats are so wonderful... especially when you're just too tired (read: pregnant) to care how you look. *sighs happily*

I never did the 'big bangs' thing... I was too busy sporting a buzz cut when I was 13. Ahhh, yes, the fun we have at 13.

Oh man, oh MAN I am with you on the big bangs! And we thought we looked sooo good back then, didn't we?

Pencil jeans are back in style (though, not on this ass) and if they start rolling them again, and the poof comes back, I'm moving to another country.

Too funny! Love the pictures!

Your poof is hysterical. I kept mine until my sophomore year of high school, though, so my crime is worse. I should have known better.

But you win for height. :)

Oh...those big bangs really brought back memories for me. And then I started to wonder, did you roll up your jeans too? And your sleeves on your t-shirts? The 80's were a mess, but I was stuck right in the middle of it, just like you!

HEHE! I too possessed thy big bangs. But I will never ever show to miss H. That would come back to bite me in the butt!

Oh what can I say? The "wall of bangs" almost made me pee my pants. I am older and did not get in on that fad.I do have a 30 yr old daughter did that whole thing. After I stopped laughing I have to say that your bangs look a bit like a faerie crown with the light shining through.Your brows where perfect and you were a very cute girl.

What were we thinking with the poof bangs. I would have hated you if I knew you at 13 b/c those are some killer poof bangs. I bet everyone was jealous.
