Cake Hell - Day 4
I'm still here! Have no fear...I have not dropped any cakes or done anything TOO terrible to my children. Yet.

But Blogger was being uncooperative last night, and it was also a very good TV night. Sorry to leave you all hanging.

So here is how yesterday went:

My husband (an engineer) was called in to do the measuring for perfectly sized cake boards:

I put buttercream between the frozen cake layers and stacked them all up. I want each tier to be tapered (larger at the top, smaller at the bottom), so I have to carve out the right shape.

You'll see below, that after one tentative cut (I've never done this before!), I chicken out and my husband asks me if HE should do it. Help is good. I hand over the knife.

Below, you see my very brave hubby (after all, HE'S got nothing to lose here) carving up my cake into the correct shape. He's using the aforementioned perfectly sized cake board to guide his cutting, and he's using his Mad Engineer Skillz to carve at the right angle.

Now. There is much more, but since Blogger was being uncooperative, you have to scroll down to the next post to see the rest...

You totally rock!
I can't wait to see the finished product. Hold that head high girl and know that so far, it looks a hell of a lot better than any of us could have done.
I'm so jealous of your cake making skillz.

Continued luck.
