Ode To My Husband
*A quick side note: Blogger has made me switch from Old Blogger to New Blogger. I hear that it's making some of your comments show up as anonymous. I have NOOO idea why. Grrr.*

I must tell you how happy I am that my husband is one of the "new generation" of men who gladly takes on his fair share of household tasks and child rearing, mostly without complaint.

After thirteen years together, seven of them married (yes, SIX years of dating...that's another story entirely), he has proven over and over what a lucky girl I am to have found him.

He vaccuums, he does dishes, he disciplines and entertains the kids, plus he works really hard so that I can stay home and watch Young and The Restless every day. Whoops, did I say that out loud? I meant so I can GIVE OUR CHILDREN THE BEST POSSIBLE START IN LIFE BY BEING A STAY AT HOME MOM. Yes. That's what I meant.

Hubby is especially great because on top of all that, he's not addicted to sports of any kind AND he's really handy around the house.

I also adore that he has a grasp on his "feminine" side...he will not readily admit it, but he totally knows what's going on with Young and the Restless and Desperate Housewives, and he reads my Cosmopolitan before I even get my hands on it.

However, it is possible he has taken it too far. A few nights ago I was about to doze off and he was doing his nightly channel flipping routine. I'm used to hearing him stop at some action movie, or maybe a repeat of Dirty Jobs. But not that night.

Annoyed by the laugh track I heard, I rolled over and asked WHAT he was watching.

Him - "It's 'The Suite Life Of Zach and Cody'. I really like this show!"

Me - "Oh, good LORD. Are you addicted to any other Disney sitcoms that I need to know about?"

Him - "Um, sometimes I watch 'Phil Of The Future', too. He has some really neat gadgets."

Me -*major eyerolling*

So I guess my main point is, you can learn something new about your spouse every day, even after more than a dozen years together. And then you can use that information to torment them mercilessly for weeks and even write an entire blog post about it.

I too have one of those "new generation" husbands, thank GOD.

Zach and Cody? Make me want to poke my eyeballs out with a fork.

Thank God he's more of a Spongebob kinda guy (though he totally leads the pack around here with Desperate Housewives!!)

Yours isn't the only one! I don't have enough space here to mention all of the mindless TV that my husband watches. (Fairly Oddparents, The Amanda Show, the show with the pre-teen boy and the black kid with glasses (I can't remember the name) and the list goes on....

I'm so glad my husband is not that into watching sports either. When we first got together he had to watch wrestling on Thursday nights, but I have pretty much weaned him of that by now though, lol. We watch American Idol, Trading Spouses/Wife Swap, Supernanny, and House together.

Thanks for stopping by my blog!! My husband is one of the New Generation too. I love (love love love) having a helpful man. Because, dude, seriously, I could never do what I do without him!!

Um, ok, to answer your questions... the twins (Things 1 and 2) turned two last September (making them, let me see.... just a little shy of 29 months) and the Littlest Thing is one. This is where people usually launch into the "Oh My God, you are INSANE" lecture. Sigh.

I am/was a chemical engineer. My hubby is an electrical engineer. I know. How nerdy are we?

How have you been feeling pregnancy-wise? It's so exciting (no, honestly, it is) to find someone else due around the same time as myself. This is my first pregnancy that I get to share with anyone!

P.S. Doesn't the first trimester bite?

Ok my hubby does his share of the housework and taking care of kiddos. In fact he gives bathes and cleans up the kitchen. AHHH. We do not see eye to eye on the TV. He can't stand Desperate Housewives or Grey's Anatomy, but he likes Ugly Betty. Go figure. He is more of a CSI kind of guy, and weird movies on the sci/fi channel and HBO type movies. Too much info I know! I think it is hilarious that S likes Disney. I really can't wait to give him a hard time!

Last Thursday my huband was building some new shelves for the house. He saw Grey's Anatomy on and asked if it was a new one. I told him it was, figuring he was concerned that his drilling was too loud for me to hear my NEW episode (which it totally was but he had to get working on the shelves b/c I had a baby shower at my house this weekend so he had a deadline). That is not why he was asking though. He then asked if I was recording it. I told him yes (b/c I couldn't hear at the time..the drilling!) but then asked why he wanted to know. He paused and finally answered me....."Well, don't delete it when you're done." Hahahaha! Hooked! I got him hooked on Grey's Anatomy! He's a HUGE sports man so this is a HUGE deal. We've never seen eye to eye when it comes to TV shows. But now. Now? We have Grey's! Eeeeeeee.

Most of those show's on Disney drive me crazy, but my daughter loves them!

So what does that say about your hubby, lol. I actually watch Dirty Jobs sometimes; I'm not sure why but I do.

I came home yesterday and my hubby was watching "Buzz Lightyear". :) I think sometimes, they are all like that.

HA! I was about to say that you sound like you're in a lesbian relationship but the refrence to Zach and Cody redeemed your man :)

As much as I complain about mine for his moodiness he is great about some things such as cooking and building all the stuff I insist on buying. And he never ever gets mad at all the money I spend. He secretly loves Days of Our Lives and as much as he hates most of my shows he will record his so I can watch mine. Except for Oprah. He really, really, really hates her.
