I guess this is just what happens when one is busy kicking off the holiday season! This last weekend has been a busy one for me...MANY cake orders, MUCHO Christmas shopping, and MOUNTAINS of laundry and messes (oh, ye makers of washable markers - I praise thee!) to clean.
Actually, I've just returned from Christmas Shopping - Round Three, and have not actually eaten a meal today. I'm also really in a hurry to watch my Young and the Restless tape and see if we find out today Who Killed Carmen Mesta.
I know I will have time for some good writing tomorrow, but for tonight, I give you this:
I have not been to the mall for MONTHS. If you all remember, there was, um, shall we say, an INCIDENT at the mall a few months back. Anyway, I was at the mall this evening (believe me, it was a necessity, because I do not go there for fun. Do you hear me, Donna, you mall-loving-freak?).
And do you know what they've done to our mall? They've gotten rid of the plain old hard mall floors and have replaced them with CARPET. Lovely for walking, don't get me wrong. I felt like I was practically floating along puffy piles of pillows. But it's the MALL, people. Carpet at the mall? Has anyone ever heard of a carpeted mall, or is it just another strange Missouri thing? AND! What if there is another INCIDENT? What then, internet? What then?

When we first moved to Canada, waaaayyy back in the 70s the mall we went to was carpeted. So I am going to say it's totally a 70s revival thing. I'm off to read about the incident now.
Stace,
I totally understand what you are saying...here is my thought on that, What if your children throw a tantrum and roll around on that dirty ass carpet? I could totally see B or H for that matter plopping themselves down and rolling around screaming, all the while I am freaking out cause the carpet will be nasty. Not to mention what if it snows and gets the lovely pink carpet black? Have a good day.

Oh Stacy, the incident so totally sounds like something that would happen to me, (by the way, you are sooo not a loser!!!)I however would have done the splits, let's give 'em something to really look at! As for carpet in the mall, that's just a way to get the men to come in and not complain about theie feet hurting. Sorry, my man has already been ruined, carpet or not, he isn't going near the mall unless there are big screen tv's with recliners and internet shopping presented to him totally FREE!!! Take heart, you can always wear you hair down at the mall, they'll never know you.
Malls make me feel old now a days too! But I do go on occasion.
I hadn't read your 'incident' post before, and oh man. You rock! You rock simply because you held it together! That's more than I would have done to say the least.
And carpeted malls, can't say I've ever been in one. Weird.
ok, yeah, that's totally crazy. Why would you put carpet in a mall? How do you push a stroller on carpet without looking like you pushing a push mower up a hill? I don't get it either.
It is carpet TILES. They pop right up if there is an "incident" AND get this...they are washable! My DH and I have looked into them for our house. Kids and dogs do unspeakable things to carpet. Also, you should see the vacuum they use on such a large area. It looks like a zamboni (sp?). I would vacuum every day if I could ride the vacuum!
The nicer malls in my area are carpeted everywhere except the food courts. It does make the shopping experience a little better as your legs don't get tired as quick... but i'm a mall lover myself!
Stacey, I can't believe that mall is now carpeted. I've been to a few malls out here that are carpeted. It doesn't make it feel like "home" or anything, and it is sort of gross to think about all of the nastiness that is buried down in that carpet! I thought it was a big-city thing to do, but if B-field Mall now has it, I don't want to go back there. The last time I went there, it had a bunch of uppity stores that I would have never guessed would ever be in that mall. It's just not our little mall anymore!
