Driving home from a night out (!) with another couple on Saturday, we noticed a new, large, lighted sign for a restaurant that is opening soon near our home. Here is what the sign said:
JACK SPRATT'S
Great food-less fat!
Everyone seemed to think it was going to be a really neat restaurant, and began chatting about it. I, on the other hand, kept repeating the slogan to myself, and became more and more baffled by the second.
I kept saying, "What the hell is "foodless fat???? That makes absolutely no sense. I don't GET IT!!" Everyone else in the car kept trying to explain to me the meaning of Jack Spratt, and they couldn't understand exactly WHAT I didn't "get".
I finally realized it means to say, "Great food! Less fat!" There should have been SPACES between the hyphenated words, and maybe even some capitalization, like this:
Great Food - Less Fat!
I'll bet there are a whole bunch of confused citizens of our town wondering just what "foodless fat" is. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE PUNCTUATION, PEOPLE.
***P.S.*** Stupid blogger is screwing up MY spacing now. Not my fault. Swear.
